Thank you to many!

We extend our heartful thanks to the many people who helped to make Lent, Holy Week and Pascha beautiful and meaningful celebrations. But first off, we would be remiss if we did not acknowledge how we got to where we are.

Initially, we would like to offer our sincere thanks to Bill Kovachi, Fr. Sergei Bouteneff and to the other members of the Parish Council (Laura Coughlin, Luba Csernica, Peter Dacey, Joe Galich, Louise Karoli Gallagher, Cathy Hotova, and Bob Lazar) for all their leadership, hard work and diligence to ensuring St. George could open safely over the past 10 months of this COVID pandemic.  In the background, this group participated in numerous Zoom video conferences and phone conferences - communicating with the Archdiocese administration, clergy, and with other churches to understand requirements, to share ideas, learn, and to coordinate, document, and to implement re-opening and operating plans for our parish.  This allowed St. George to return to holding Sunday services last July, and allowed for the increase of the number of services this year for Great Lent, Holy Week, and Pascha.  All of this difficult work was done with the safety of our parishioners as the primary goal.  We wish to acknowledge and thank them first - for all their dedication to St. George during the difficult past year.

To Louise Karoli Gallagher and Cathy Hotova for managing all the COVID safety protocols – (ex: attendance registration, attendance reservations during Holy Week, temperature checks, seating plans, attendance documentation, etc). Louise & Cathy did this work not just for Holy Week and Pascha, but for each service over the past year.

To Laura Chadwick for taking attendance reservations over the past 10 months of this pandemic for Sunday Divine Liturgies

Thank you to Voula Zargos and for other anonymous donations for flowers to decorate the Petafi.

Thank you to the ‘Myrrh-bearing Women” who decorated the Petafi: Jean Brideau, Sharon Buzi, Mary DiIulio, Pauline Dionis, Louise Karoli Gallagher, Cathy Hotova, Dolores Nauchy, and JoAnn Soter.

A special thanks to Louise Karoli Gallagher for donating the dyed Pascha Eggs.

To Laura & Joe Chadwick for donating the potted lilies and flowers (in memory of Constantine and Margarita Jordhamo) to beautify the inside of the church for Holy Friday through Pascha.

Thanks to Jennifer Goetz for decorating the Church for Holy Pascha, as she also does each year for the Nativity of Christ.

Fr. Sergei Bouteneff who served all the Lenten, Holy Week and Paschal services for us, and for serving all the Liturgies from the re-opening in July 2020. Additionally, to help our parishioners who could not attend services due to health or age risks, we wish to thank Fr. Sergei for recording all of his sermons each Sunday, and for his monthly Sermonettes for the Church School children.

To Dave Denisevich who made a Holy Shroud pallet to assist processions with the Petefi.

Many thanks to Louise Karoli Gallagher for executing the COVID cleaning protocol for the church after each service.

Luba Csernica and Cathy Hotova for the live-streaming of services which began during Great Lent.

Cantors Charles Soter and Peter Dacey for their dedication and singing at all the services.  Charlie and/or Peter faithfully sang the responses for every Divine Liturgy since St. George re-opened last summer.

The Choir and Laura Chadwick for their singing on Palm Sunday, the Holy Thursday Bridegroom service with Unction, the Holy Friday Matins with Lamentations, the midnight Paschal Liturgy, and for the Bright Monday Paschal Liturgy.

Our all the volunteer readers

Bob Lazar for his assistance in the sanctuary – he faithfully served all services during the entire pandemic through Pascha.

To Sue, Melissa, and Erin Galich for preparing and handing out the children’s “Easter goody bags” after the outside Paschal Prayers service on Sunday. Also to Sue who helped coordinate a remote Church School this year, forwarding Sermonettes monthly to the church school children.

And to all those who came to pray and celebrate the services.  We wish to thank everyone for their cooperation and diligence with following the parish’s COVID procedures – ensuring the safety of all congregants was, and remains, the priority for St. George.
