On Monday, July 11th, a small delegation from St. George welcomed Father John Hopko and Reader John Paul Szepel who brought us two icons and two hand crosses from the former Nativity of the Holy Virgin Mary Church (Saint Mary's) in Waterbury, CT. Together we celebrated a short prayer service of Thanksgiving to God for these magnificent gifts. The icons will be on display for the next several weeks so the parishioners might see them more closely before being mounted in the altar/sanctuary - their traditional location. The crosses will also be on display: one is destined for the altar, the second will be used for all of the major processions of the Holy Cross during the calendar year.
